CTR depends upon various factors which we are going to discuss here. Also we will be discussing why CTR matters and is High CTR Good or bad. CTR changes on industry to industry basis. If you are selling High price product or service than getting CTR of 2%-3% on an average we receive in most of the cases. 1. CTR Differs with Pricing: But if you are providing anything in free or low price product or service then you may experience higher CTR because audience size is much bigger and people are more interested in those products or services due to low cost. 2. CTR depends upon Location Targeting: Location targeting also matters the most. As If we are running ads of CRM Course in Tier - 3 or Tier -4 Cities then people are unlikely to click on it because of lesser knowledge about it whereas we will receive Higher CTR in Tier-1 City for the same ad creative. 3. Ad Creative Quality affects CTR: If we are running High Quality, attractive and engaging Ad then obviously people are going to stop while scrolling. Whereas if our ad creative is of low quality then it won’t attract the attention of users and they will scroll. So, creating attractive ad creatives will also improve CTR. 4. Audience Targeting matters the most: Suppose you are running ad campaign for a Gym and targeting a broad audience then we are going to experience lower CTR in comparison to running ad campaign with detailed targeting. It’s not necessary that doing detailed targeting will improve CTR because if you are adding wrong or irrelevant interest than also CTR will drop. For Example: If I am running ad campaign for Gym and have added detailed targeting filters like Yoga, Health and Gym than audience of Yoga and health might impact the CTR as of having not much interest in Gym. Broad Audience Targeting many times increase CTR but that High CTR is not fruitful because people might click on ad but they are not actual buyers and will increase the bounce rate or landing page views would be lesser. As they are kind of explorers. Ads Manager Screenshot showing CTR of Different Ad Sets targeting different audiences but creatives are same. Now as you can see average CTR is 1.76% these ad sets have different audience targeting and ad creatives are same. 5. CTR Varies for Retargeting Ads: If you are retargeting website visitors than you are showing ads to only those users who have previously interacted with your business and have an idea about your business. So, tendency of clicking on the ad becomes relatively higher. It also depends after how long time duration you are showing retargeting ads as if any user who have opened your website 3 days before and saws your ad then intention of ad click is more comparatively to those users who have opened your website 3 months before. CTR of retargeting Ad Campaign CTR of retargeting ad is comparatively better than direct targeting.
