Description

High CPM is often not an issue it’s a misconception that High CPM is an issue… No, Not at all let’s understand it with an example. Suppose I am providing Digital Marketing Course and I am running Facebook Ads for that. Example 1(A): I ran an Ad campaign targeting Business Owners (Behavior) or Small Business (Interest), Now as many SaaS Companies are already running ads on this audience so it creates High Competition and Meta puts your ad in the auction at Higher CPM. CPM: Rs 900 %CTR: 5% Impressions: 1000 Reach: 920 Clicks: 50 Purchase: 4 Example 1(B): I ran an Ad campaign targeting Students than I will comparatively get lower CPM as Audience Size is bigger than 1(A) CPM: Rs 750 %CTR: 2% Impressions: 1000 Reach: 935 Clicks: 20 Purchase: 1 Example 1(C): I ran an Ad campaign targeting Broad Audience without any detailed targeting than I will comparatively get lower CPM as Audience Size is bigger than 1(B) CPM: Rs 600 %CTR: 1% Impressions: 1000 Reach: 960 Clicks: 10 Purchase: 0 Now, As you can see CPM is not an issue for reaching High Quality Audience CPM may Increase. Matter of the fact is %CTR should be higher if CPM is High. Sometimes you may also experience Low CPM but High CTR that also doesn’t means that it is a good ad campaign because might be irrelevant users are landing upon your website. It will lead to either no conversion or lesser. Well, CPM also depends upon the objective of Ad Campaign For Sales Campaign you might experience High CPM, than for engagement campaign comparatively lower and for traffic much lower and for Awareness Campaign it would be the lowest. So, as you can see with Campaign Objectives also CPM varies because campaign purpose is getting changed. But it doesn’t means that Ecommerce website starts running Message Ad Campaign to get lower CPM. So, I consider %CTR, Conversion and ROAS more over CPM. Still if your everything is Aligned and you want to reduce CPM than I will tell you some best things to do which will reduce your CPM. Use Attractive Ad Creatives: Social Media Platforms do want to retain their users interest by showing high quality ad creatives. Every advertiser don’t use high quality ad creatives some use worse also so to maintain standards of the platform for users favor. Social Media Platforms distributes a good ad more over the bad design. So, that Advertisers experiencing Higher CPM can make more engaging ad. Meta gets the idea from user engagement signal how many users are clicking on the ad and how they are engaging with it so a good CTR will automatically send signal to meta that ad creative is of High quality and reaching to right audience. So, you should focus on it first. The first Banner Ad creative is quite basic and people won't easily stop on it and will scroll but the second ad creative is of High Quality and also asking users to comment their favorite sweet below to increase engagement. 2. Add Offers in your Ad Creatives : Many users stop scrolling when they see offers or discounts so adding this element will improve your CTR and will send higher engagement signal to Meta’s Algorithm. 3. Target Low Tier Cities: It’s not necessary to be applicable for all businesses as local businesses needs to run ad in their cities but yes if you are running ads in multiple cities or nationwide than you can opt this suggestion also. As we know most of the advertisers target Tier-1 Cities primarily to show ads, this creates high competition in auction participating and eventually Bid gets Higher and So is the CPM. So, instead of targeting Tier-1 Cities you can target Tier-2 or Tier-3 Cities. 4. Avoid Running Ads on Special Occasions: Many Businesses run ads on Festive Seasons, Holidays, weekends or Month Beginnings so if you are experiencing Higher CPM due to occasion you can either decrease Ad budget for that time period or can pause it for a while. 5. Opt for Video Ads Rather Than Banner Ads: Video ads are more engaging and retain users for a longer average watch time so try running video ads than Banner Ads and it will definitely lower CPM. But make sure your Ad performance can decrease as everyone is not interested in watching video and a Static Banner might get lesser leads and enquiries but gets of higher quality as user can read everything in a single go.
